Seton Family of Hospitals Celebrates Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month
Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month is an annual observance in May, celebrating past and current achievements and contributions of all Asian-Pacific Americans. This observance provides us an opportunity to examine the collective ingenuity, creativity, cultural and political importance of Asian Americans on our history. Today Asian and Pacific Island Americans are the second fastest growing group in Central Texas and include members from more than 30 ethnic groups, speaking more than 300 languages and dialects.
It is the one unified celebration of all Americans of Asian & Pacific Islander descent. Learn about interesting new facts on demographics, health disparities and sample various cultural dishes prepared by Seton associates. Seton Food Services has partnered with associate volunteers in each site with a cafeteria, so most celebration activities will occur during noon lunch periods. There will be food samples, decorations and music, along with a slide presentation containing information about the history of the celebration and the culture. Cultural celebrations are a fun, festive and informative process by which we began to learn more about ourselves and those we serve, and to appreciate the richness of our differences as well as our similarities.
