Case Study: Abdomen Tumor: Malignant Nerve Sheath Tumor in Patient With Neurofibromatosis.
Patient treated surgically with radical excision. Neurofibromatosis is characterised by multiple benign tumors that rarely are malignant. Currently, patient is doing well and there is no evidence of recurrence. (5/12/08)
Case Study: Skull-Based Tumor: Multi-Modality Treatment of Skull Based Pathology.
Treatment presented multiple challenges, including repair of aneurysms, need for care to preserve important nerve function and removal of growing tumor. Follow-up treatment to preserve other important structures occurred two years later. (9/11/07)
Epilepsy Case Study: Chronic Refractory Epilepsy and Left Posterior Temporal Cavernous Angioma.
Seizure patient with malfomation in the left posterior superior temporal region unable to control seizures with medications evaluated with non-invasive video-EEG monitoring. After review, awake craniotomy performed guided by concerns for preserving language capabilities. As a result, patient had no significant language difficulties and improvement in seizures. Discusses treatment of patient with history of multiple daily seizures with surgery following extensive imaging evaluations. Results were much less frequent seizures that may able to be controlled through medication. If not, further surgery is possible. Click here for details. (1/10/07)
Case Study: Orthopaedic Trauma Patient Gains Strength, Mobility.
Illustrates treatment of multiple skeletal injuries. Several surgical modalities employed along with less-invasive fixation where possible, allowing early PT because immobilization was not necessary.
