Introduction to COMPASS for Medical Providers” classes are offered every Monday (except for holidays) from 1PM to 5 PM, at Seton Administrative Offices in room 156. Course content includes: Accessing Powerchart and patient results viewing, using and creating patient lists, use of message center, computer provider order entry, and medication reconciliation. You may self register for a class that meets your schedule through Seton Learning Central. The course code is: COMP-P3-PC-MP.

Introduction to Firstnet for Emergency Providers” classes are also offered every Monday (except holidays) from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. Locations vary. Course content includes: Accessing Firstnet, tracking board, computer provider order entry, depart process and message center.
The course code is: COMP-P3-FN-MP.

COMPASS Training for Credentialed Physicians and their Medical Office Personnel

COMPASS Physician Training Overview

The majority of COMPASS physicians training takes place in Seton Learning Central, the Seton Family of Hospital’s online university, and can be accessed from any computer with an Internet connection.

Hospitals where physicians are entering their orders electronically, such as Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas and Seton Medical Center Williamson, also offer personal assistance from a COMPASS Physician Site Coordinator (see below.)

Accessing COMPASS from the Physician Office or Home Computer

You can access COMPASS from a computer at your physician practice or home, as long as it meets the requirements below. The Seton Service Desk at 324-1675 is available 24/7 for assistance with any problems accessing COMPASS.

Account Requirements for an individual to access COMPASS remotely

  1. Active Directory Account (AD account) - your unique account that provides entry access to Seton Healthcare Family Network, including email, intranet and applications used at Seton.
  2. COMPASS Account- your unique login to COMPASS.

If you are a physician, your accounts are automatically created through the credential process via Med Staff services at the Seton Healthcare Family. The account information is sent via email.

If you are a Physician Office staff, complete the COMPASS Account Request form.

Technical Requirements for a computer to access COMPASS

  1. Browser: Internet Explorer 8.0(recommended) Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 2 (minimum) Firefox (Mac OS)
  2. Operating system: Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 (recommended) Mac OS can be used to access COMPASS.
  3. Citrix ICA Client software: (installation instructions below)

First time setup The next section provides detailed instructions to configure your physician office or home computer to access the Seton COMPASS application.

  1. Log in to the Seton network.
  2. Download and install the Citrix ICA Client software.
  3. Log in to COMPASS PowerChart.
