Jesus Garza
Jesus Garza joined the Seton Family of Hospitals in 2002 following a distinguished career in private- and public-sector leadership. Initially he headed a newly created Health Ministry at Seton before moving into the chief operating officer leadership post. An experienced manager of complex organizations, he is also known for implementing strong community partnerships.
Prior to coming to Seton, he served as deputy general manager for the Lower Colorado River Authority following retirement as city manager for the City of Austin, a position he held for eight years. He led the City during a period of economic and population expansion. His tenure included business development, downtown revitalization and the opening of the Austin Bergstrom International Airport. He was responsible for the leadership of City-owned Brackenridge Hospital during the time when it was named a regional Trauma Center and the City's negotiator in the lease agreement that brought the facility, now University Medical Center Brackenridge, into the Seton Family.
He began his government career in Austin in 1978 followed by increasingly responsible roles there. He also served as assistant city manager and deputy city manager in Corpus Christi, Texas, and returned to Central Texas to become executive director of the Texas Water Commission.
Recognized for many accomplishments, Jesus was named Public Administrator of the Year by the American Society for Public Administration/Centex Chapter and Public Official of the Year by Governing magazine. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas and a Master of Public Affairs degree from the Lyndon Baines Johnson School of Public Affairs.
Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
Bruce Broslat
Bruce Broslat has more than 20 years experience in managing operations and business activities in various industry settings. He joined the Seton Family of Hospitals 10 years ago after serving as executive vice president in a Baltimore healthcare system. Before taking the leadership role at University Medical Center Brackenridge, he was chief operating officer for Children's Hospital of Austin and vice president of Finance for the Seton Family. He received a Master of Business Administration degree from Pennsylvania State University. He was also a U.S. Navy aviator and served in Vietnam. Bruce has served on the board of Hospice Austin and as a board member for The Center for Child Protection and Ronald McDonald House.
Vice President Medical Affairs
Thomas W. Caven M.D.
Dr. Caven graduated with a Plan II degree from the University of Texas at Austin and received his MD from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio. Before coming to SETON, Dr. Caven served as the chairman of the Medicine and Family Practice department at Round Rock Community Hospital and was the chief of the department of Family Practice at Austin Diagnostic Clinic. He also had a private practice and was an adjunct clinical professor in family medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
From 1992 - 1993, Dr. Caven served as the chief of the Family Practice department at Seton Northwest, before founding the Travis Physicians Associates and serving as the group's vice president. He later became the medical director for the Seton Health Plan.
Dr. Caven now serves as the medical director and vice president of Medical Affairs for Brackenridge.
