Robert I. Bonar Jr., Dr. H.A.

Bob Bonar leads development of the infrastructure needs for all Seton Family physician organizations, including management of physician practice plans, creation and implementation of new physician services and oversight of long-term strategic plans including physicians in addition to leading Dell Chlidren's.

He began his career in healthcare during the 1970s as a hospital-based street and flight paramedic. He earned master's degrees in education administration and healthcare administration and served as director of Emergency and Trauma Services and the air ambulance system at West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown.

He left the clinical provider realm and entered health management, serving as administrator of Children's Hospital of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City and administrator of the Children's Hospital at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he also earned a doctorate in health administration and policy. He served as president and chief executive officer of Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia and is currently president and chief executive officer of Dell Children's Medical Center of Central Texas. He was closely involved with the development of the recently opened world class facility that became the first hospital in the world to receive the LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum designation given by the US Green Building Council.

Bob has been a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutes (NACHRI) as well as the Child Health Corporation of America and served on various committees within both organizations, as well as state advisory committees, faculty positions, and teaching roles.

Vice President and Chief Operating Officer

Sr. Teresa George, DC

Sister Teresa George, D.C. has served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Children's Hospital of Austin, and now Dell Children's Medical Center since 2005. She worked in healthcare financial management for over fifteen years at a variety of Daughter of Charity facilities including University Medical Center at Brackenridge, Seton Northwest, DePaul Health Center in St. Louis, Centro San Vicente in El Paso, and DePaul Family Center in San Antonio. Prior to joining the Daughters of Charity, Sr. Teresa began her professional career as an auditor for Price Waterhouse in San Antonio. She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant, holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration from New York University, a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University - New Orleans, and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Baylor University. Sr. Teresa currently serves on the board of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Austin, is an avid volunteer with Austin Habitat for Humanity, and serves on the Finance Council for Ascension Health. In addition, Sr. Teresa, a Daughter of Charity for over twenty years, has served on numerous committees for the Daughters of Charity - West Central Province, and currently serves on their Finance Council.

Associate Chief Medical Officer, Seton Family of Hospitals

John Hellerstedt, MD

In addition to his role at Dell Children's, Dr. John Hellerstedt is the Associate Chief Medical Officer for the Seton Family of Hospitals.

A dedicated child advocate, Dr. Hellerstedt followed the progress of Dell Children's from its inception to opening. Before signing on with Seton, Dr. Hellerstedt worked with the Texas Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program. There, he was medical director for the Medicaid CHIP Division with the Health & Human Services Commission.

Prior to that, Dr. Hellerstedt served as associate faculty with the Austin Pediatric Education Program, teaching medical students and residents and directing patient care in both in-patient and out-patient settings. Board certified in general pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Hellerstedt practiced general pediatrics for 18 years with Austin Regional Clinic. While at ARC, he also served as pediatric department chairman.
