First-Line Treatment of Gonorrhea Should Be Combination Therapy
On Aug. 10, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced it now recommends only combination therapy as first-line treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea: ceftriaxone 250 mg by i.m. injection plus either a single 1-g oral dose of azithromycin or seven days of oral doxycycline 100 mg twice daily.
