Are you a physician or advanced practice provider, not employed by Ascension or AMG, who is interested in taking an active or supportive role at one of our Ascension Texas facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic? If so, please read on.

There may be a time soon when we need your help to care for our sick and vulnerable patients. While we are not experiencing noteable staffing issues at this time, we are planning ahead in an abundance of caution and in an effort to be fully prepared for any influx of patients that we may see in the future.

Please complete the online Ascension Texas Emergency Healthcare Provider Questionnaire to let us know of your interest in serving in an emergency role.

If you are employed by Ascension or AMG, please do not complete this questionnaire. You should reach out to your manager or director to let them know of your interest to provide support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

What are the requirements for someone to be considered an Emergency Healthcare Provider?

Specific criteria for activation will vary based on event and role. Once emergency healthcare providers are approved, the Incident Command Center (ICC) leadership will share specific criteria for needed emergency healthcare provider assignments at time of activation. This will help emergency healthcare providers know if they are a right fit for a specific assignment.

How long will I be activated for?

This will vary based on the needs of each emergency healthcare provider activation. Specific details will be shared before an emergency healthcare provider commits to being activated.

What is the scope of services for the Emergency Healthcare Provider?

Emergency healthcare providers shall be granted core privileges on an emergency basis for his or her specialties in order to assure safe and adequate care, treatment, or
services.

Will I get paid?

The short answer is “Yes!”

The method of compensation depends on any existing contractual relationship between the emergency healthcare provider and the Ascension Texas ministry for a specific
assignment.

Most or all eligible providers or employees will need to complete paperwork to serve as an Emergency Healthcare Provider. This will be handled on a case by case basis and we
will provide the required documents as needed.

How does this apply to virtual care services?

We intend to utilize virtual care as applicable.

I’m retired, is there a role for me?

This is yet to be determined; however, we would still like to gather your information. If you are interested in volunteering, please complete the questionnaire. Physicians who have been retired for less than two years may be eligible for expedited licensing by TMB. Please visit the TMB website here for further information.

I’m an advanced practice provider, is there a role for me?

We are looking for both physicians and advanced practice providers. If you are interested, please complete the questionnaire.

Why are only three alternate care sites being activated?

Currently we are attempting to limit exposure to persons under investigation to the three sites of Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, Ascension Seton Hays, and Ascension
Seton Williamson. It is possible that at some point in the future more sites may be added based on community need.

How soon will I hear if I am needed?
