Physicians, Nurses and Clinicians Needed for Maccabi Games

Clinical volunteers, including physicians, nurses, clinicians and paramedics are needed to provide medical care for the JCC Maccabi Games, July 29 through Aug. 1, 8 to 5 p.m. This Junior Olympic-style event, for children ages 12 to 17, is designed to elevate teen's Jewish pride and create a sense of personal achievement through sports, community service and socializing.

The competitive events include soccer, flag football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, tennis, golf, swimming and bowling. Approximately 2,000 athletes are expected to participate in 10 venues throughout the city including St. Stephens, St Edwards, St Michaels, East Metropolitan Park and the Jewish Community Center.

Seton Healthcare Family, Austin Radiological Association and Austin Regional Clinic are some of the games' many sponsors.

Clinical volunteers must be comfortable with children’s injuries and application of IVs in pediatric patients. Nurse volunteers should be familiar with general first aid. At least eight clinicians are needed each day to staff the nine venues.
