Refer, Admit or Transfer Patients

The Seton Healthcare Family’s Transfer Center is staffed with registered nurses who can navigate and connect you with our physicians. Available 24/7, they will help you admit and refer or transfer patients.

Referrals/Direct Admissions

Call the Bed Board at: 512-324-ABED (2233) 

For Children call: 512-324-DCMC (3262)

You may already have a facility and hospitalist selected for your patient. If this is not the case, we can provide you with contact information for a hospitalist at the facility determined most suitable to accept your patient and coordinate admissions.

Transfers

Call the Transfer Center at: 512-324-3515

When needing to transfer your patient to another acute care facility, we will connect you with a hospitalist, emergency medicine physician or specialist physician to accept your patient and stay on the line until the process is complete. You may or may not have a physician and facility selected. In either case, we will coordinate the process for you.

High-Risk OB and NICU patients

If your patient has one of the below conditions and is currently in an acute care facility, follow the instructions below.

Z High-Risk OB and NICU patients

Call the High-Risk OB Care & NICU Transport Hotline at 1-866-459-5477. Seton operates a fast-response, mobile transport to provide state-of-the-art critical care for high-risk maternity patients and newborn babies. You will be connected directly with a specialist at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas. The facility is alerted that your patient is coming. Please be prepared to provide the patient’s age, name, and DOB. The balance of the information needed for a seamless transfer and admit can be collected later upon arrival or after the emergency is resolved.

STEMI and Stroke patients

If your patient has one of the below conditions and is currently in an acute care facility, follow the instructions below.

Call 512-324-TIME or 512-324-8463. You will be connected directly with a cardiology interventionalist. A facility will be chosen based on which is best equipped to handle the circumstances and proximity to your patient. The facility is alerted that your patient is coming, and if necessary, the cath lab is activated. Please be prepared to provide the patient’s age, name, and DOB. The balance of the information needed for a seamless transfer and admit can be collected later upon arrival or after the emergency is resolved.

ZStroke Info

Call 512-324-TIME or 512-324-8463. You will be connected directly with a neurologist. A facility will be chosen based on which is best equipped to handle the circumstances and proximity to your patient. The facility is alerted that your patient is coming. Please be prepared to provide the patient’s age, name, and DOB. The balance of the information needed for a seamless transfer and admit can be collected later upon arrival or after the emergency is resolved.

If the situation is emergent and your patient is NOT currently in an acute care facility, please call 911.
